Board Assessment and Development Projects
- Prepared and presented Responsible Board Member Best Practices during the Rainbow Fleet, Inc. board retreat in Oklahoma City, OK on January 17, 2026.
- In March 2025 in Alexanderia, VA facilitated a two-day board development workshop for CFRE International to strengthen board member engagement, cohesion, and inclusion. To prepare for the workshop, developed five customized surveys completed by board members and completed virtual one-on-one interviews with board members. During the workshop, guided board members through activities to strengthen teamwork, refine mission and core values statements, and develop effective strategies to promote effective organizational diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility. Post-workshop prepared a board culture and practices assessment identifying areas for improvement and strategies to address disparities and promote inclusivity throughout the nine steps of the board building cycle – identification, cultivation, recruitment, orientation, involvement, education, evaluation, rotation, and celebration.
- In November 2021, created and facilitated a board planning retreat for the Children and Nature Network (C&NN) board that accomplished the following objectives:
- Presented C&NN’s BoardSource Self-Assessment Survey results highlighting strengths and weakness, opportunities, and threats.
- Highlighted opportunities for C&NN’s board growth and development based on effective governance practices for similarly situated organizations and alignment with C&NN’s Vision 2025.
- Created and facilitated one-day “Board Capacity Building” retreat for NALA: The Paralegal Association in November 2017
- Designed, administered and summarized results from customized board self-assessment for Phillips Theological Seminary Board of Trustees in May 2016
- Facilitated customized board retreat on the Roles and Responsibilities of Nonprofit Boards for Rogers County Literacy Council in January 2016
- Facilitated customized board self-assessment retreats for Crossroads Clubhouse and Tulsa Lawyers for Children
- Facilitated customized board self-assessments & annual planning retreats for Clarehouse, Inc. and New Hope Camp, Inc.
- Facilitated establishment of Historic Greenwood District Main Street through development of its bylaws, board member job description and application form, articles of incorporation, operating agreement with the Tulsa Planning Office, and executive director job description in May 2020
- Provided comprehensive board development guidance and resources including board education sessions, strategic planning and retreat facilitation for Sustainable Tulsa
- Provided comprehensive board development guidance for Tulsa Lawyers for Children through completion of a board self-assessment, attendance of committee meetings and one-on-one meetings with staff and key volunteers, and facilitation of two retreats (2018 – 2019)
